Eye on Acquiring: Vantiv Debuts an API; ExaDigm Launches a Hospitality Terminal

Merchant processor Vantiv Inc. on Monday launched triPOS Cloud, a cloud-based application programming interface intended for independent software vendors and merchants looking to integrate payments with point-of-sale systems.

As an API, triPOS Cloud enables developers to integrate payments functions with a few pieces of code. The service incorporates encryption and tokenization, and operates on the Microsoft Azure platform, a cloud-computing service.

“By investing in technology, Vantiv is focused on serving developers and resellers who want to create new solutions in emerging technologies,” Symmes Township, Ohio-based Vantiv said in a press release.

Earlier this year, Vantiv completed its $425 million acquisition of the U.S. unit of Moneris Solutions Corp., a move designed to aid its integrated-payments growth, the company said then.

Meanwhile, point-of-sale equipment maker ExaDigm Inc. announced it and SoftPoint LLC, a Scottsdale, Ariz.-based hospitality POS software developer, launched the All-in-One payment terminal that uses ExaDigm’s hardware and SoftPoint’s software.

The integration of SoftPoint’s software enables merchants to securely accept payments and use features such as tableside ordering with the device, Santa Ana, Calif.-based ExaDigm said.

The device, which features a 5.5-inch screen, also will be available as a standalone terminal for other developers and merchants. In addition to magnetic-stripe cards, it accepts EMV chip cards and near-field communication transactions. No price was announced.

SoftPoint produces more than 60 applications for the hospitality industry.
