Lender Teams With EVO Payments For Canadian Venture and other Digital Transactions News briefs

The U.S. Supreme Court agreed to hear a challenge to a New York state law barring retailers from imposing credit card surcharges, Reuters reported. A federal appellate court upheld the law a year ago; nine other states have similar laws.

Online business lender Merchant Advance Capital said it is working with merchant processor EVO Payments International to offer collateral-free financing to small and mid-sized businesses in Canada.

PayNearMe Inc., whose service enables consumers to buy from e-commerce merchants using cash, appointed Kristina Campbell chief financial officer. Campbell comes to the company from Green Dot Corp., where she was general manager of the GoBank mobile and online account product.

In related news, Green Dot launched its Platinum Visa Secured Credit Card, a product whose credit line is backed by the cardholder’s deposit at Green Dot Bank.

Seamless, the Swedish payments company, announced its Seqr mobile-payments app now works with 30 million contactless terminals around the world. The app, which is compatible with the Android operating system, also works with quick-response codes.

Factor4 LLC, a provider of gift and loyalty services to merchants, introduced mobile apps for Apple and Android devices to process gift and loyalty transactions via barcodes.
